La Tentazione Super Tuscan IGT Toscana

A Symphony of Tuscan Excellence

Introduction to Super Tuscans

Super Tuscans, a term first used in the late 1970s, describes a prestigious category of Tuscan wines that do not adhere to traditional local DOC regulations. These wines often use varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, which aren't typically associated with Italian wine laws, allowing winemakers to create distinctive and high-quality wines that blend international appeal with the unique terroir of Tuscany.

La Tentazione Super Tuscan IGT Toscana

Mannucci Droandi, a vineyard with deep roots in the sunny hills of Tuscany, crafts this exquisite wine, which they originally named Campolucci. The wine is a testament to the winery's three-generation legacy of viticulture and innovation in winemaking.

Viticulture and vinification

La Tentazione is produced from a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 20% Syrah, reflecting a perfect balance of structure and aroma. The grapes thrive in six and a half hectares of alluvial, sandy, and silty soils at an elevation of 250 meters above sea level. This optimal environment is enhanced by meticulous vine management practices, including minimal soil cultivation, precise pruning, and controlled foliage management, ensuring the highest quality fruit.

The vinification process includes destemming and gentle crushing, followed by an extended maceration period of 18-20 days to extract deep colors and complex flavors. This is complemented by both délestage and malolactic fermentation shortly after devatting. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, with 30% new wood, adding subtle oak nuances and further depth. After barrel aging, it matures for an additional 12 months in the bottle before release.

The wine's aging potential is significant, with recommendations suggesting that it can continue to develop in balance and smoothness for 12-15 years, making it not only a joy to drink upon release but also a worthy addition to any cellar.

Conclusion

La Tentazione Super Tuscan IGT Toscana by Mannucci Droandi is more than just a wine; it is a celebration of Tuscan innovation and a tribute to the winery's dedication to quality and tradition. It stands as a bold statement in the world of fine wines, perfect for those seeking a taste of Tuscany's modern winemaking prowess.

Enjoy the rich tapestry of flavors that La Tentazione brings to your table, a true masterpiece from the heart of Tuscany.
