With years of experience, knowledge and passion in our luggage, we decided to create Budou Wines - a company that not only offers the highest quality wine, but also a total experience of elegance, exclusivity and adventure.

What does Budou mean?
The word "budou" (ぶどう) in Japanese simply means "grape." It holds significant importance in Japanese culture and gastronomy, representing both the fruit and the vines that produce it.
Pronounced approximately as "boo-doh" in Japanese, "bu" has a short "u" sound, similar to the sound in the English word "book," while "dou" features a soft "d" followed by a long "o." Together, this forms a two-syllable word with emphasis on the first syllable: "boo-doh."

At Budou Wines, we deeply respect Japan's rich sake culture. We understand the significance of sake in Japanese traditions and celebrations and have no intention of competing with or overshadowing this cherished beverage—we love sake.

Her meticulous attention to detail and profound understanding of logistics make her indispensable in maintaining efficiency and precision in all administrative and operational aspects of the business. Although she does not share the same intense passion for wine as her colleagues, Karin has developed an appreciation for the simpler pleasures that the wine world has to offer. She prefers wines that resonate with green apple notes, significant minerality, and fresh tones. Particularly fond of bubbles, Karin gravitates towards sparkling wines that are not dominated by the bready, vanilla tones typical of many Champagnes but instead exhibit a crisp and refreshing profile. Karin's expertise ensures that Budou Wines operates like a well-oiled machine, her role is crucial in supporting the team to bring the finest selections of wines to connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. A passionate and dedicated wine expert with over 15 years of experience in the world of wine. His deep wine interest grew and the journey began with the creation of his first wine cellar in his house, back in 2010, where he delved into the intricate details of optimal wine storage— temperature, humidity, and the best practices for preserving each bottle's unique character. Armed with this knowledge and a deep passion for fine wine, he embarked on a quest to explore the diverse world of viticulture. Kristians travels have taken him to Italy countless times, where he has visited over a hundred vineyards and witnessed various levels of wine production. From humble house wines to some of the most extraordinary offerings Italy has to offer, he has continuously sought out the best wines and stories they carry. He is also a certified WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) diploma holder from WSET School London, which has further honed his expertise and deepened his understanding of wine. This qualification reflects Kristians commitment to professional excellence and his comprehensive knowledge of wine production, tasting, and pairing.
