La Tentazione Chianti Classico DOCG
A celebration of tradition and terroir
The legacy of Chianti Classico and the black rooster
Chianti Classico, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions, lies in the heart of Tuscany between the cities of Florence and Siena. Known for its rigorous quality standards,
Chianti Classico is symbolized by the Black Rooster (Gallo Nero) emblem, a historic marker that guarantees the authenticity and quality of the wine. This symbol originates from a medieval legend where a black rooster was used as a mascot in a competition between Florence and Siena to determine the boundaries of the Chianti region.
Today, the Black Rooster stands as a certification of the highest quality Chianti Classico wines, embodying the spirit and heritage of the area.
La Tentazione Chianti Classico
Mastery of SangioveseProduced by Mannucci Droandi from their Ceppeto vineyard in the highlands of Gaiole, La Tentazione Chianti Classico represents the essence of the region. This wine is crafted primarily from Sangiovese (90%), blended with Canaiolo (5%) and other ancient Tuscan red grapes (5%), showcasing the traditional grape varieties that have defined this region's wines for centuries.
Viticulture and vinification
The six hectares of vineyard sit on medium-textured, clayey soil with an abundance of stones, providing excellent drainage and reflecting heat to the vines. At an elevation of 300 meters, these vines benefit from optimal sun exposure and cooling breezes, ensuring a slow and even ripening of the grapes. Mannucci Droandi employs sustainable vineyard practices, including minimal soil disturbance and careful canopy management, to produce grapes that are expressive of their terroir.
The winemaking process reflects a commitment to quality and respect for tradition, with grapes undergoing extended maceration and fermentation in medium-sized vats to enhance flavor extraction and structural development. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, allowing for subtle oak integration that complements rather than overshadows the wine's natural character. It is then aged for an additional 12 months in bottles to achieve a harmonious balance between aroma and body.
Aging potential
Recommended to age for 10-12 years, this wine will continue to develop in complexity and smoothness.
