Cantina del Conte Barolo DOCG
Tradition and Excellence in the Heart of Piedmont
Cantina del Conte's Barolo embodies the rich history and winemaking tradition of Piedmont, specifically from the renowned vineyards in Grinzane Cavour among others.
This Barolo, often described as the "king of wines," is meticulously crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, a varietal synonymous with the region and celebrated for its ability to produce deeply complex and age-worthy wines.
The Essence of Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo, the sole grape variety used in Barolo, is known for its thin skin yet robust tannins, which contribute to the wine's distinctive characteristics: profound aromatics, deep color, and the potential for long-term aging. Cultivated in the calcareous marl soils typical of the region, which are rich in microelements, the grapes achieve an ideal balance of maturity and acidity, thanks to the vineyards' favorable south-southwest exposure and elevation of 300-400 meters above sea level.
Winemaking Process
Following traditional methods, Cantina del Conte's Barolo undergoes a rigorous process that includes destemming and crushing, followed by a long submerged cap maceration to extract rich colors and robust flavors.
The wine is then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving its classic aromatics and purity of fruit. This is followed by a maturation period of 6 months in the same tanks and an additional 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, enhancing the wine's complexity and silkiness.
