Dogliotti 1870 Barbera Nizza DOCG
Elevating Piedmont's Barbera to new heights
Nizza DOCG, a distinguished and relatively recent classification within the Piedmont region of Italy, has quickly become synonymous with high-quality Barbera wines. Officially recognized in 2014, the Nizza DOCG zone encompasses 18 communes centered around Nizza Monferrato, a town celebrated for its viticultural heritage. This area is known for its unique microclimate and favorable southern exposures, which are ideal for cultivating the Barbera grape, allowing it to express its fullest potential.
Terroir and production excellence
The vineyards of Nizza are situated on hilly terrains that ensure optimal sun exposure and drainage, crucial for the growth of high-quality Barbera grapes. The soils are predominantly sandy-clay marls, which contribute to the distinctiveness of Nizza wines. These conditions, coupled with stringent production regulations that include mandatory aging periods, enable the production of Barbera wines that are not only rich in color but also complex, full-bodied, and notable in structure.
